Alright maybe the Bobmo title threw you off, but that’s the amount I’m feeling everything about this multitalented creature named Danger. He’s not new to my blog by any means, but his style and concept is constantly celebrated here. If you want something creative, original, and something fresh in this genre today, it’s him. He does his own vocals (11h30- that’s his voice, pitched up), he makes all of his own artwork (if you know about motion graphics/illustration, just think about how much time he spent on this THUMBNAIL gif), and has a concept that makes his music have an interesting edge beyond what you’re hearing. I’m not really down with all these mask wearing groups right now, but if it furthers the concept (read: Daft Punk, Danger) and isn’t just 2 dipshits flailing their arms all night with matching t-shirts (read: Bloody Beetroots) then I’m cool with it.

FRIDAY: Scion Pool Party w/ A-Trak, Surkin, Bobmo, Para One, Toxic Avenger, Frankie Chan, Curses!, and Calvin Harris.

It was a beautiful day, perfect for this type of show. Surkin and Bobmo fucking destroyed it with their early 90’s dance hits (Surkin even overheated something, cutting the music out for a few minutes). The atmosphere was even better. All of these dudes, plus Chromeo, Erol Alkan, Spank Rock, and Le Castle Vania just strolling around the hotel area. ‘Twas great. However, due to a few too many drinks, we cut out early and I had an interesting night later on the floor of a friend’s bathroom.

We got there just as Boys Noize was going on, so we missed all the shitty openers . He killed it as usual, dropping Laurie Anderson’s O Superman (LOL), his edit of Siriusmo’s Mein Neues Fahrrad, and the classic Outlander track The Vamp. Then Simian Mobile Disco (above picture) went on. I expected it to be the best show of all of WMC, but really we were just left with an overbright, lengthy, snoozefest. Them playing the instruments live was tight, but hearing Hustler for almost 10 minutes was pretty fucking boring, not to mention I only recognized about 4 tracks off of ASDR. … and THEN, Erol Alkan went on… (view below)

WHAT A FUCKING DJ. It’s no wonder why he is huge in Europe. Mixing skills were like butter. Track selection was SO FUCKING ACE. I swear, every track he dropped was a monster, and almost all I’ve never even heard before. If ANYONE knows what this track above is, PLEASE let me know. I’ve posted across 5 forums asking. My guess is that it’s The Proxy. HUGE thanks to MEDOSA on the Erol Board for the videos. Definitely the highlight of WMC. Damn.

many of you probably don’t know of my complete obsession with Jean Claude Van Damme. there is nothing more badass, inspiring (somehow), and nostalgic as JC. people say he’s a joke and a hasbeen, and while they may be right, he’s still a hero in my eyes. i’ve got a Bloodsport poster over my bed and every single one of his VHS’s as proof. i’m not really sure why i’ve never posted about him.

with that being said, this is the fucking funniest shit i’ve seen in a while.
